On August 8 at 3:42 p.m., Elijah Ferenc (Ferenc after David’s father) Nagy was born! He weighed 8 lbs. 10 oz. and measured 20 3/4 inches. The surgery went well and we were thankful to have parents in town to share in the event and care for Mikayla. In some ways it feels like we are first-time parents again as we adjust to a newborn and see what Elijah’s temperament is like. So far, he seems to be a fairly quiet little guy, and with a bit less hair (and lighter in color) than Mikayla had at birth. Thank you for your prayers for all of us during this time. Please continue to pray for a smooth transition, for adjustment to a different sleeping schedule, and for Mikayla to love being a big sister. For pictures, follow this link or download the pdf. Our blog has some, too.
Summer in the campus ministry offers special opportunities for staff and students to be developed and learn more about sharing their faith. As we mentioned in an earlier newsletter, every year we have many students from around the country come to a summer project held at headquarters to see how they can use their major area of study in ministry. We had eight interns on our team this summer, which helped expand our capacity to get a few different internet projects further developed and off the ground. Besides working a full workweek the interns also participate in Bible studies and outreaches. They are discipled by different staff at headquarters.
Our teammate Andi shared her experience with one of the interns. Elaine, who comes from Taiwan, had gone to church in the U.S. and had an interest in spiritual things—enough to sign up for an internship. Through conversations with her, Andi discovered that Elaine had many questions and had never asked Christ into her life. Andi clearly explained how she could invite Christ into her life and she did! The two are now going through a series of short Bible studies that will help her grow in her faith. We’re thankful for how God uses these summer opportunities in students and staff lives year after year. (Heather took part in the Orlando summer project ten years ago.)
Thank you for your prayers and support!
