Theology Classes
Do you know what a worldview is? Whether we realize it or not, everyone has a worldview. It’s
the grid they use to make sense of life, a set of deep-seated beliefs and values that we use every
day. We learned more about this in a recent class we both took as part of our staff development.
Part of the class was learning more about where other people are coming from, how to
fi nd common ground, and how to point out inconsistencies people live with. For part of the
class requirements, we visited a Buddhist temple in town and did a survey with one of the nuns
there. We found that there are some similar values in Buddhism—for example, no killing, lying,
stealing...however, there is no concept of a God who gives purpose and created us to know
him personally.
David took a second class entitled Christ, Humanity and Salvation that explored a “Creation-
Fall-Redemption-Consummation” interpretation of the Bible. It explained more of what was
lost when Adam fell, and what Christ restored through his life and resurrection. It’s great to
learn more, and found myself using what I learned in classs to explain some things to Mikayla.

Finally Home!
We moved into our new home on June 20. We were finishing transferring stuff into our home the next day when Heather’s parents arrived. They were a huge help in watching the kids while we were in class and helping get us settled into the house. Heather’s dad completed many projects.
After a month we feel fairly settled; boxes are unpacked, the kids' rooms have been painted, we know where to find most things, and have met a few of our neighbors. We feel blessed to have more room, to be much nearer to many other staff families and the Campus Crusade office, and to be right across the street from a community pool and a new elementary school.
Please note (again) our new address!
Ellijah turns two on August 8th, and has started taking naps in a car bed we found secondhand. We also celebrated another birthday for Heather in July. Heather’s sister’s wedding is in early August and we’ll be traveling to Michigan for that. We hope to be able to visit people in the Jackson, Michigan area, and we’ll be making a stop in Grand Island, NY as well.

Hope you are having a great summer!
