I celebrated the big “40” on June 1, and on June 29, we
celebrated our 5th anniversary. Heather broke out her oil
pastels again and has done a few pieces. One is entitled “Broken but Beautiful,” inspired by how God can take our
brokenness and make us beautiful. A full explanation and
image can be seen at refl ectingbeauty.blogspot.com.
Elijah is up and crawling! He likes to explore and can entertain
himself, which is nice for Mom. He also enjoys splashing
in the pool with Mikayla. Mikayla has a growing imagination—she says she’s scared of monsters (although the
monsters she’s seen, like Elmo and Cookie Monster, aren’t
scary), but isn’t scared of thunder because Jesus is with
her. She exclaims often how she loves
certain things: dirt, butterfl ies, lions,
Mommy, Daddy, and Elijah...and she
often asks if she can have chocolate.
We leave for our biennial staff conference
early in July. Please pray for a safe
road trip for us. I’ll be working behind
the scenes helping with various aspects
of the conference. I hope to help with
the video work they do. It promises
to be a challenging time, especially for
Heather as I will be less available to help with the kids. Please pray for their adaptability
as they are in a strange place, sharing a room, and the grace and patience that Heather
will need to care for them.
If you spend some time around me, you’ll soon fi nd out how much I like photography
and video. I regularly volunteer at our church doing video directing and camera work
that is shown at different services and on the internet. I recently had the opportunity
to help on a video promotion job for our summer mission projects that our team was
responsible for. It will be used to recruit students for next year’s projects. It was great
to help and get more experience. Also, my team leaders want me to get more training
in video editing and the guys on the team who currently do this have been an encouragement.
I’ll start getting more training and experience when we’re all back from our
conference in August.
