Please pray for--

The Big Break promo video shoot to go well, and for us to finish them on schedule

Patience, grace, love and wisdom as we parent Elijah
and Mikayla

That we would be good soil

God’s provisions for our needs

David's Role
I’ve been learning more about video and photography and the associated software tools
as I’m being developed in my new role. My first job involving editing video footage was of
a talk explaining a big change in our health provider—not the most exciting stuff, and not
what we normally do, but it was a good training experience.

One new task for our team is getting things prepared for three videos that need to be
completed by November 15. These videos will each be about a minute long, and will be
used at Christmas conferences and on campuses to promote our spring break evangelism
conference, Big Break. While I most like to shoot video, and now have a handle on
editing it, for this job I’ll learn more about the role of a producer, as I make preparations
for the shoots by arranging permissions at locations, acquiring equipment we need, and
renting a bus (which will be used for an interior shot).

Weeds
We’ve had a recurring theme of weeds in our life lately. Weeds are unwanted and ugly;
they can carry disease to other plants; weeds compete with trees and grass for vital
nutrients; they don’t need to be fertilized, or watered—they just come. If left unattended
weeds will take over! After neglecting our front lawn for years we can see fi rsthand the
effect of weeds. We have brown spots and a variety of green things growing that are not
grass. Because we didn’t do the preventative maintenance, major lawn repairs are now
needed. Several weeks ago our pastor talked about Jesus’ parable on the different kinds
of soil. He spoke of how anger, fear, misplaced desires and a superiority complex can be
weeds in our own lives that can choke out the abundant life Christ intended for us. I pray
that we’d pay more attention to these weeds in our lives and not let them take over!

Personal

While it doesn’t quite feel like fall here yet (temps are still in the 80s), it is a time full of
fall festivals. We attended one at our headquarters where we went on a scratchy hayride,
picked out a pumpkin, and enjoyed seeing friends. Mikayla stayed close to the bouncy
house and Elijah even enjoyed a turn. Elijah is walking very well, which makes going outside
or to the park a bit easier. Mikayla is scared of a lot of the Halloween décor; we look forward to
November when it disappears. She turns three on Thanksgiving this year, and talks about her
birthday almost daily. We hope to celebrate with friends the weekend before.
