September marks the beginning of a new school year. A new crop of college
freshmen will experience newfound freedom and responsibilities. They will
seek to figure out who they are more than any other time in their lives.
Campus staff returned to their respective campuses praying and seeking how
they would give each student a chance to hear the gospel. There are hundreds
of campuses throughout the United States that have no full-time staff. Our
prayer is to see key people (students/professors) raised up on those
campuses that would commit to the vision of making Christ known on campus.
Recently, a number of staff that work in the National Campus Office with us
had the opportunity to get something started at nearby Seminole
Community College.

A team passed out 300 Freshman Survival Kits at the college.
They had just identified a new student leader, Blake, and were looking to
launch a ministry on that campus of 29,000. Those who went handed out the FSKs in 90 minutes and received back 269 surveys that the students will
follow up. They prayed for 50 to come out to an informational meeting that
evening and exactly 50 came! Only one slice was left over from the 12 large
pizzas they ordered. Blake led the time with icebreakers and planning for
their first weekly meeting and two student women led praise and worship. The
staff said, “We feel like we have a lot of momentum and we’ll be pretty busy
this semester keeping up with it.” Thirty students attended their second
meeting. This is really saying something for a ministry on a commuter
campus. Most students leave campus after classes and do not come back for an
evening meeting. Blake talked on being able to speak out about faith in
Christ to their friends. They also began to delegate other leadership
responsibilities and set up Bible studies. These students believe God to use
them in a profound way.
We are feeling more settled back into our routines here in Orlando. The
weather is still hot and the kids enjoy playing at some of the city parks—a
few have some water play areas. Mikayla is passionate about many things (the
color pink, her stuffed animals, ice cream) and her favorite question is“Why?” Elijah has begun to take a few steps without assistance and is very
proud of himself. Heather had the opportunity to paint live during our
church services and is pursuing entering some recent paintings into a few
art shows. David has been getting more training with video and assisting
others in video production.
