Heather’s parents being able to visit

June 13, 2008

The Impact Movement is Campus Crusade’s ministry to African- Americans, and their mission is to take “the truth of Jesus Christ to the campus, community and world by producing leaders of African descent who are spiritually focused, financially responsible and morally fit.” Just last week I completed a video for Impact that will be used to expose potential ministry partners to what Impact does. It was a lot of work to get the piece completed in time. We pray that the video will be a useful tool to inform potential givers as Impact seeks out new ministry partners. You can visit www.impactmovement.com to learn more about Impact.

In just a couple weeks we start our summer assignment. I will be taking two seminary-type courses that Crusade offers. It’s a great chance to get a better grounding and be encouraged in my faith and the work we do. Each class will run for 2 weeks here in Orlando. Heather has been doing her reading, as she will also take a class while her parents are here visiting with us.

Our House
We’ve moved, a few times now... our house closed in mid-May and we moved our things into storage and moved into a friend’s condo while they were away. Then we moved into another friend’s condo and will be there until we’re able to move into the new house on or before June 21! We are so thankful to have friends who needed house-sitters. It has been pretty stressful living in places that aren’t child-proofed, have stuff in them that isn’t ours, and trying to keep the kids from, well, being kids... climbing on furniture, making messes, throwing food, toys, etc. You can pray for our sanity during this time!

An answer to prayer: the kids started swim lessons last week. The lessons are taught by a staff mom for some of the staff kids here. Mikayla is loving it; learning to kick, reach and blow bubbles. Heather goes into the water with Elijah, but he is not loving it at this point. Hopefully he will continue to adjust. It has been great having access to pools as it gets to 90 degrees on a daily basis here.
