Hurricane UpdateOur team leader, Bob, who is new to Florida, thinks that it’s normal here to have a hurricane every three weeks! We wish that wasn’t the case. Tired of the unwelcome guests, we actually boarded up our front windows when Jeanne came. We did not sustain any new damage with this storm and power was back on within a day. Please pray for the thousands across the state who have major damage and are being threatened by flooding. A praise is that we received money from our insurance company, and CCC has a relief fund from which we will get some help. We’ll be getting a new roof as soon as we can line up a roofer—they’re in high demand these days! The Scope of our MinistryIn 1 Corinthians 9:22, Paul says, “I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.” Our team was reflecting on this concept as we considered the scope of our ministry. We want to reach all the college students of the world–15 million in the U.S., and 45 million outside the U.S. To do this, we want to give each one in the US three chances to hear the gospel and every student internationally one chance—that’s 90 million exposures. There are many things staff are doing now: talking to students one-on-one, planning large events on campuses, and using great websites that connect with students. However, we have a long way to go, and the students we are seeking to reach are so diverse! Our heart is to continue to find new ways to expand our reach so that our vision of every student becomes a reality. Technology has made the world a smaller place and will be key in reaching students around the world. Please pray that God would guide us daily in this endeavor. Childbirth Social LessonsWe meet every Friday with several other couples for childbirth classes through our birthing clinic. For most of us it’s our first child, and there are several couples we relate to well, (and we’ve found a few who are probably Christians). There are also several couples that we don’t naturally connect with. Some of them are unmarried, and it’s hard to see that some of the moms-to-be smoke cigarettes. God has shown us our need for compassion as we attend these classes. Pray that we’d be intentional about showing love to those whose choices we do not agree with, and that God might use us to draw them closer to him. Thanks again!
P.S. About 7 weeks left before Baby Girl Nagy arrives! |
